Useful before impressive
We organize guidance around moments that already exist: preparing equipment, taking a break, rinsing off and changing clothes. The aim is a routine a surfer, swimmer or sailor can use—not a product collection or a promise of perfect skin.
We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment or claim that an everyday skincare routine prevents every consequence of UV exposure, friction or water contact. Individual skin conditions and medication-related sensitivities need individualized advice.
How to read our sources
We prioritize public guidance from dermatology organizations, health services and regulators. Core references include the American Academy of Dermatology, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization, the NHS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Links appear alongside the relevant guidance.
We distinguish label requirements from general recommendations. For example, 40- and 80-minute water-resistance statements refer to U.S. sunscreen labeling; other markets may use different terminology. Your product directions and local requirements matter.
Citing an organization does not mean it endorses this website. We are not affiliated with the organizations cited. We do not represent these articles as individually medically reviewed or as original clinical research.
What we leave out
These guides do not rank products, promise “detoxification,” use before-and-after skin comparisons or treat “reef safe” as a universal guarantee. We avoid making a long ingredient list sound more important than tolerability, correct sunscreen use and straightforward habits.
The current guides contain no paid product placements or affiliate shopping links. External references are included for context and verification, not as commercial endorsements.
Corrections and boundaries
If a label statement, source link or explanation seems inaccurate, send the page address and the specific passage through Contact Us. Include a reliable source where possible. Do not send medical records or identifiable photographs of a skin concern.
We cannot guarantee a response time or provide personal medical advice. For a persistent rash, changing lesion, severe burn or water-exposed wound that is worsening, seek a qualified clinician. For urgent symptoms, use local urgent or emergency care.
